Pink Eye

Yep, that's the latest thing going on in our house. I stopped at Kroger's Thursday evening to pick a few groceries. They have a car attached to some of the buggies for the kids to ride in. I absolutely hate these things because I know they are never cleaned. Against my better judgement, I let "B" ride in it. I can usually come up with an excuse for him not to get in it, but this time there were like 4 of these waiting as soon as we walked in the door. As soon as we got back to the car, I gave him a squirt of hand sanitizer, like I always do whenever we leave a public place. Well, yesterday morning his bottom eyelid starting turning red and becoming swollen. I thought he bumped it somewhere because it just came up all at once. By mid afternoon, his eye ball was bloodshot and his top eyelid was starting to swell as well. I was trying to hold him off until this morning in case it was allergies. At around 5:30 yesterday evening, he was really starting to rub it and telling me it was itching and hurting. So I ran him to Urgent Care and sure enough, he has pink eye. This is our first case ever of it and I'm sure it won't be the last. The doc gave us antibiotic eye drops and told us we were good to go after 24 hours. So in the meantime, I am having to try and keep him from touching "C" and wipe everything off constantly so none of the rest of us get it. I am praying no one else gets that, especially with tomorrow being Mother's Day!

  1. My eyes started to hurt reading this post... :) I'm sorry 'B' got pinkeye - whenever the Princess Nagger goes grocery shopping with me, she always wants to ride in those car carts...and sometimes they just look nasty! I never thought about the possibility of pink eye from the germy cart...blech! Poor B! Hopefully he's feeling better soon...

Stopping by from MBC's Follow Me Club - I'm your newest follower! :) Happy Mother's Day! :)
